Strengthening Community Services
& Building Crisis Agility
Drawing on years of federal experience and direct work with states, tribes, county governments, nonprofits, and the organizations that support them, I bridge the gap between policy and practice to make compliance clear, fair, and practical. I believe that when human service systems are well supported, they become powerful engines for resilience, opportunity, and lasting community improvement.
Human Services & Basic Needs
Many organizations face the hard reality of trying to meet families’ essential needs—housing, utilities, water, and food—through systems that can be fragmented, inconsistent, or difficult to navigate. Limited resources, complicated eligibility rules, and high demand often make it challenging to deliver support fairly and effectively.

I work with organizations to strengthen these systems so they function when families need them most. Drawing on years of federal and community-level experience, I help design practical approaches that ensure housing stability, prevent homelessness, expand access to utility and water assistance, and improve pathways to nutritious food.

Cross-Sector Collaboration & Systems Change
Households and communities rely on a web of services spanning government, nonprofits, and local organizations—but too often these systems operate in silos. Misaligned priorities, competition for limited resources, and fragmented communication can prevent partners from working together effectively. In times of crisis, these gaps become even more visible, leaving families caught between systems that were meant to support them.

I work with teams to align priorities, leverage resources, and strengthen the systems communities depend on. I have spent my career helping leaders bridge divides and build partnerships that not only respond to urgent needs but also drive lasting change.

Federal Programs & Compliance
Federal requirements can feel complex and demanding, but they exist for important reasons: to ensure accountability, protect resources, and ultimately serve families and communities fairly. Yet for many organizations, interpreting evolving guidance, meeting reporting standards, and staying in compliance can feel like a burden that pulls attention away from day-to-day service delivery.
I bring deep program knowledge—from the Community Services Block Grant to the Social Services Block Grant and the Low-Income Home Energy and Water Assistance Programs—to guide organizations in aligning with federal expectations while keeping their focus on strengthening communitiesHaving spent decades on the federal side, I understand both the intent behind these requirements and the challenges recipients face in meeting them. .
Behavioral Health & Crisis Recovery
In disasters and other crises, behavioral health systems are often pushed to their breaking point. Families and individuals endure trauma, loss, and prolonged stress, while service providers—who are themselves living through the same event—struggle to keep up with overwhelming needs.
I help organizations build practical, trauma-informed and agile systems of care. I draw on extensive lived experience in disaster settings, working alongside teams under extraordinary pressure to help organizations build practical, trauma-informed systems and strengthen crisis agility.

Community Action & Economic Opportunity
Community-based organizations face the difficult task of addressing poverty and economic insecurity while navigating shifting policies, unpredictable funding, and rising community needs. Many struggle to coordinate services across programs, measure impact, and adapt to new demands without losing sight of the families they serve. These challenges can limit their ability to foster long-term stability and opportunity.

I work with Community Action Agencies and local partners to strengthen the systems that advance economic opportunity. This includes improving program design, supporting compliance with federal requirements, and helping organizations adapt to changing needs while remaining grounded in fairness and responsiveness.

Training, Speaking, & Storytelling
Human service organizations know the importance of preparing their teams for challenges—from disaster response to shifting policies—but staff often feel stretched thin, undertrained, or uncertain about how to apply requirements in real-world situations. Without the right preparation, even the most dedicated workforce can struggle to respond effectively when communities need them most.

I design and deliver training that draws directly from lived experience in disaster and program leadership roles, not just theory. My sessions help staff and leaders build confidence in areas such as disaster preparedness, crisis agility, federal program compliance, and communicating impact through storytelling. I focus on practical strategies, grounded in fairness and clarity, that organizations can put to use immediately.
